More moving shenanigans

Yet more moving shenanigans, we’ll get there one day.

I apologise for occupying my timeline with these random updates regarding our impending move to a new home, and the weird process that goes on behind the scenes whilst buying and selling.

However, our life at this particular moment is totally consumed with these activities, and anything else such as projects and hobbies have long since been packed away into boxes and are currently sitting in another town, elsewhere in the county, in a storage container in preparation of that impending move.

Part of our life in this little 10×10 unit.

We’ve been away for 8 days in Madeira, even during this time the solicitors have been a pain in the ass, wanting information and paperwork that was just not accessible whilst sitting on an island in the North Atlantic. These are highly paid and extremely intelligent beings that couldn’t even open a pdf file that I was requested to send, “It won’t open”, they said. I opened it quite simply as it has always opened, and eventually had to phone the solicitor to explain to them how to open a pdf file. (I bet that call cost won’t be deductible from my bill)

I was baffled at the lack of ability to open a simple file.

Today my wife walked to the estate agents to give them her weekly pep talk that usually includes the words “inept” and “incompetent” however to her surprise, this week they were waiting for her to say “ohh you will be exchanging contracts by the end of the month”. My wife stunned at this comment laughed and walked out to where she met me on the high street, I wasn’t sure if she was funny ha ha laughing or just starting to lose it. I suspect it was the latter….it was.

Because….

Our buyer apparently still has a few documents to submit, and they have not yet even arranged a survey.

Our new house isn’t ready yet either. We popped over today, and we now at least have a garage, but no door or drainage, decoration is not complete and they are yet to talk to the wife about her choice of tiles and other decor. I suspect the house will not be finished this side of Christmas, but I’m happy to be proved wrong. Our builders want a sign off of the 17th October, having seen the property today, and the fact that this deadline is only four days away, there is more chance of me qualifying as a trained neurosurgeon in that time than the builders meeting that deadline. It’s just not going to happen.

So, she was laughing as she was starting to lose it….

Bless her. A little cuddle brought her back to reality and we then laughed, funny ha ha style 😂

So to cut a long story short there are about three deadline dates out there and to be honest, in lay man’s terms, and to use quite a course old English saying, they don’t know their “Arse from their elbow”

And no, as I have always stated right from the start of this process, I still don’t trust a single one of them and quite expect the whole thing to collapse due to their collective incompetencies.

Hey ho, we’re keeping a sunny disposition, there are far more important things going on in the world, and we accept that. I just can’t stomach incompetence though, and that’s my pet peeve.

Have a super day, wherever you are. Stay safe, be kind.

Even to estate agents and solicitors 😂👍

It’s my journal

Why do you blog?

During my working life I have so far experienced, 17 traumatic suicides on the railway. I am more often than not the first person on site and have to make access to the site, safe for all the emergency personnel about to arrive en masse. I have seen things no one should ever expect to witness. And I sincerely hope you never do.

For this reason, I have had health issues mainly around PTSD that I was diagnosed as having just two years ago, after a young lad ended his life on my shift. That one affected me, though i often go into self denial that this was the cause. Though in all seriousness it was probably the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.

I used to journal as a result. It wasn’t a private journal, I used to have it beside the bed and actively encourage my wife to read it. At the time I was hiding a lot of my feelings from my wife, I was the typical bloke that wouldn’t talk, however I was storing this all inside and even I could see this was heading straight towards becoming the perfect storm. I’m glad I did that as it helped her and it also helped me to prompt conversation and off load some of that weight from my shoulders.

Blogging became the natural progression from the journal. The family now have links to this blog and they all check in on a regular basis to see what I am doing. I include all the hobby stuff and it is now more of a website than a blog site.

I sit here typing as I am now at 4 in the morning and the wife will turn to me and say, “Are you doing your blog?” And I will say yes. She knows that this is my way of healing some scars by just offloading the excess baggage that life supplies sometimes. And do you know what? It works for me. I don’t do it for followers as that’s not what I’m about. To be honest it wouldn’t bother me if not a single person read my site, for me I have a history at my fingertips where I can check my progress. I have bad days, I have days where I do nothing but whinge, but I can now see why these things happen and that’s all down to this blog.

That’s why I blog, this last month has been awful as my constant companion, Alf, our dog, another who would just sit and listen to me wagging his little tail passed away and it has just ripped the hearts out of my wife and I. See his pictures here: Alfie. All hobbies and interests have disappeared as we have just entered that, “Can’t be arsed” stage of grief. We will come to terms with it in time, and again this is where the blog helps.

Hopefully people will understand this. I’m just a guy who is suffering but I have found a way to let off that steam, accumulated as a result of other peoples desperate actions.

It’s tough, but I won’t let the demons win. It is a daily battle that I doubt I will win in the long run but hopefully I can put it aside for a good while longer.

I really wish for peace for you all.

Talk,

Blog,

It really helps.

Positive post moment

Yes I’ve just had one of those moments, a silly one I guess. It confounds me how this Blog machine gets its viewing stats, and in a moment of madness I thought I’d just test out how far a stupid blog post actually goes so here it is.

A random battery terminal

This is about my level of silliness at this current moment. A random car battery terminal.

But it’s a positive one.

Sorry about that, I’ll find my own way out.

Have a happy day

What is the last thing you learned?

Looking at this sorry attempt of a blog thing that I have set up, the thing I have learned is no one is really that concerned anyway. I’ve pretty much known from the start that I’m probably putting stuff out there into the ether, and who knows 50 yrs down the line when I’m back to dust some ancient civilisation who might have just seen the voyager space probes zap by might see some old chuff I’ve enlightened them with about old Cameras…

I guess I just need to somehow increase my output with some better content but I’m not that way inclined, I’ve just got so much going on i seriously need to retire to be able to do that.

So I’ll just tootle on and do much the same. I’m not fishing for likes or follows here please don’t think that, it’s just I was asked what was the last thing I learned and that is that this t’internet thing is not easy!

Be happy, you lovely bunch.
