I love Greek food

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

Probably the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten was my first portion of Beef Stifado when we first holidayed in Cyprus.

I love traditional hearty fare either at home whilst eating stews, or abroad when I stumbled upon this.

I love Greek/Cypriot cuisine, it’s one of the things I look forward to the most when revisiting the island (As well as the sun).

We head on back to our favourite restaurants, and they don’t tamper with the tastes. They are traditional recipes cooked the same for years. Untouched perfection in my eyes.

And Mediterranean vegetables cannot be bettered, the taste and colour compared to our washed out waterborne ones we have in the UK is incomparable. The freshness and taste is amazing and a pleasure to the pallet.

Have a good day all.

Where in the world…..

What countries do you want to visit?

To be honest I’m a creature of habit, i will continue to go to that little quiet part of Cyprus that we love as the people are lovely souls and the life is good. If we had the chance I’d up roots and move there lock stock and barrel. Iceland is another one I will continue to frequent as I absolutely love everything about the place. Two crazy totally different environments.

There is only one other country that I’d love to visit, and that’s Canada. I’d love to do one of those Rocky Mountain explorer train trips, the sheer wilderness and beauty would really appeal to me.

Other than that there is no other country I wish to travel to. To be honest there are still too many places in my home country I still yet have to see.

Have a blessed day

What is your favorite restaurant?

I love these easy questions. I’m not a foodie and don’t judge an establishment on its ability to produce poncey overpriced food that would struggle to feed an anorexic budgie.

I like good portions of old fashioned good food and probably tend to aim more towards Grill establishments rather than posh restaurants.

Yialos beach grill – Latchi

My absolute favourite establishment on this planet sits in the South west on the island of Cyprus in the town of Neo Chorio, Latchi and is called the Yialos beach grill house.

Akamas peninsula

As stated it’s on the beach with the most stunning view of the Akamas peninsula that let’s you view the most stunning sunsets in the early evening, it’s like watching natures personal show of beauty just for your enjoyment….and then you get to eat and drink in the most convivial atmosphere where food is spectacular and service is personal and friendly.

Yialos beach grill – Latchi

Food is Cypriot/Mediterranean, lots of meat and unbelievably tasteful vegetables, along with a free portion of desert made by the elderly lady that runs the kitchen. It’s probably the most relaxing restaurant I have been to in my life, whenever we go back to Cyprus this place features high on the list of things we do, and to top it all off the price is extremely reasonable.

Give it a look in if you are ever in the area.

Where would you go on a shopping spree?

Shopping where would I go.? To be honest shopping is my wife’s forte and to be totally frank from what I see of the bank statements, she is very good at it.

My wife pretty much buys all the stuff that enters our home, I just have the pleasure of earning the cash to pay for it all, but to be honest I wouldn’t have it any other way. Today for instance I was wearing a tee shirt to garden in that was over 25 years old. It’s still in good condition and fits…I look after my stuff but I’m not a tight arse by any means.

I love my hobbies and interests and to be honest any buying I do is for purely selfish reasons and usually involves the purchase of some tech kit such as recently, when I have purchased a Microscope for electronic work as well as a new solder flow rework station and a bench power supply.

If really pushed I guess I’d be heading for my favourite destination of Latchi and Polis in the north west corner of Cyprus. It would be expensive as I’d probably want to buy a seaside villa or something similar…. So I guess for the meantime that shopping spree is just going to have to be a pipe dream. We all need a dream or three in life though.

Don’t forget to dream.

Stay happy and smiling you lovely people.

What book could you read over and over again?

The bitter lemons of Cyprus – by Lawrence Durrell

Printed in 1957 it’s an autobiographical book based on his travels around Cyprus during the period 1953-6 that was the period of “Enosis” the union with Greece against British rule. Particularly important to me as this was the period in which my own uncle David was killed whilst in Cyprus defending against the Eoka national organisation of Cypriot fighters.

Excellent written book in my opinion, I have probably read this about 3 times now and will probably read it again soon.
