Hope, Curiosity and Caution

What are you curious about?

To be totally honest at the moment, I’m focused and really excited for the future. Talk to me tomorrow and I’d probably be a different beast with an attitude lower than a snakes belly, but at the moment everything is fine. I’m curious why I feel this way.

Curiosity

As you will all possibly be aware, I like fixing cameras and I love my photography, it being a major feature throughout my life. I struggled in the transition from Analogue to digital and that was when my interest in the hobby dwindled. I wasn’t ready to accept the digital age, I was and still am really, an analogue dinosaur. But I’m curious.

I have recently delved deep, deep into the digital world, tried some really good equipment belonging to a photographer friend, and I really like it, I want to do more. I’m now interested. But is it too late?

I have also been a social media dinosaur, having had bad experiences in the past I’ve pretty much ignored everything but YouTube for the last ten years or so. I’ve regularly slated social media, and now this is another subject that makes me curious.

I’ve changed my attitude. I have in the last, few days gone back into the social media community, yes in many eyes I’ve probably succumbed to the call of this evil temptress, however, hear me out you have some learning to do regarding moi!

Im now on FB, Instagram, and Bluesky and these accounts are pretty much locked down to subjects that I want to see, and people I want to correspond with. It’s opened up communication with distant family members, old professional contacts and over the last few days I’ve even had requests from some of these old contacts to step back into the business professionally, and assist them. I just need to learn to ignore negativity if it begins to creep its way in, and it probably will.

The issue here is that I’m not set up professionally or in the position do so at the moment. But the call to return has hooked me and I am giving it immense and serious consideration. As many will know, and it’s there written there within my profile, that im wishing for an early retirement, and this could be an option that brings in a small income to allow me to realise that goal earlier than I initially intended. But like any business opportunity there is some investment required, and I’m now looking at ways of providing for those required tools of the trade as such.

This has been a positive, because of Social media that has opened up to me, but I’m being cautious.

Im always going to be here working with my old cameras and stuff though, as that’s what i love to do, it just all ties in like a great big knot of contentment, hope and ambition.

And it’s a nice, not always felt, feeling.

And I’m liking it, a vein of positive energy running through an aging body.

Long may it last. We all need dreams. We all need goals. It’s just I’ve left it so late in life, that’s the only nagging doubt that remains.

But who cares, I’m up for it!

Have a wonderful day, stay safe.

Effects of techalcoholism

I love this guys views on how Techalcaholism is a real and dangerous thing. Can you relate to any of this? I can, that’s why I ditched MSM and social media…great blog well worth following.

When you encounter someone struggling with alcoholism, you often have a sense of what to expect. Here are some common symptoms associated with a …

In what ways do you communicate online?

This blog. That’s it really. Anyone who knows me knows that I am very anti – antisocial media. I don’t need it, never have needed it and apart from this blog site that’s the only thing that really lets me down. And to be honest once I’ve had enough of this I’m liable to drop it just like a hot potato.

I really don’t see the fascination of it all. It’s great for gaining information and “Facts” however half the facts are false and not to be believed. I have no wish to connect with people I went to school with, I couldn’t wait to get away from them, and as for seeing what someone just had for dinner…..just go and give your head a wobble. “Influencers” are just another bunch of hopeless dreamers who think they know what’s good for you when they don’t even know what’s good for themselves. Don’t get me started.

I do use YouTube, however in the main I find that educational, especially the channels I tend to view.

It’s not for me, and as you can gather I dislike it. Get out and see the world and enjoy it. Just don’t flounce about putting it on “Insta”. You are not the first person who’s been there and you are not the last. No one is really bothered to be honest.

Wp and YouTube my only vices…on antisocial media.

Peace

Natural vs artificial in techalcoholism

You’ve probably read of my dislike of social media and modern technology in some of the posts I place on here. I think this blog post sums it up perfectly. You don’t need all that social media and technology hands to us.

Technology creates and brings an artificial layer in our lives. This artificial layer acts as a protective wall between us and the brute forces of …

What relationships have a positive impact on you?

This kind of makes me laugh. I was talking to my nephew yesterday and we were talking about Antisocial media. He was quite proud to tell me he had 875 friends on Fakebook and was quite putout when I told him he was having a laugh. I asked him to name as many of these friends as he could in 30 seconds, and he could probably reel out about 10 or 12 max. And there is my point, people on social media are not friends and a positive impact on you, nine times out of ten they are there to have a nosey around your life or to try and big up their own lives by stating “Oh look at the friends I’ve got. They’re not friends get over it. They’re doing it for likes.

That’s me off his Christmas list now.

Myself I can count my true friends on my hands. In fact I only need the one hand, in fact I only need two fingers, it was three before August but a death put paid to that relationship.

Now it is two. My wife who I trust implicitly, what she has done for me is just unbelievable, without her I would have been long gone many years ago, she has saved my life. Literally.

Second is my buddy Dave, i probably hear from him twice a year but we are there for each other we would truly go into battle for each other, this bond is strong and its roots go back to our childhood.

Trust is the foundation of a good strong relationship, it is a back bone, break it and there is no more stability.

875 friends eh? They’d all run a mile if you ever needed them.

Peace to your day.

Anti Social media

What technology would you be better off without, why?

It’s poison, venomous and down right nasty and to be honest it allows the less ingenious of society to literally get away with murder.

I admit the advent of the digital age has many benefits but allowing knuckle dragging morons to voice opinions on every subject that they have no knowledge of, or interest in is only a bad thing.

Yep as you can see I have also experienced them as I’m sure everyone else who passes by this post has also experienced one of these individuals.

Influencers, now that’s a joke of a job description if ever I have heard one. Don’t get me started, have we really become such a society that we need these individuals to coerce us into making decisions and purchases on items they have no experience or knowledge in, just because someone offers them a years supply of said item just to spout a load of old tosh on how this is going to change your life. Give me a break 🤦‍♂️

Have a good day. Don’t be influenced or insulted.

Bluesky

I’ve never been a fan of social media, I don’t do the main three as I’m not particularly interested in talking to anyone I went to school with, most of them kicked the life out of me so I’m not interested in that. X or Twatter or whatever it is know as now was always a cauldron of vileness and hate and nothing seems to have changed there either. As for Instagram, i don’t need some z list nobody to tell me what to buy or where to go, the fact that you are there ruining it for everyone doesn’t really float my boat.

But there’s a new kid on the block. Bluesky.

I’ve joined out of curiosity, I’ll probably bin it after a few weeks as I usually do, but so far it seems quite pleasant. There seems to be a few people migrating from the other side so no doubt it won’t be long before the poison sets in. Then it’ll be time to go. However the filters are pretty good and I have many words and names filtered and they don’t seem to be getting through so I am actually only seeing what I want to see. And that is good. As long as it stays like that I may be tempted to stay.

Apparently it was how Twitter was back in the early days, but we all know youngsters grow up and can develop an attitude so I’m very sceptical at the moment.

For the moment I’m happy with it, cautiously content is probably the right statement. But could it get any worse?

Update: account deleted on 27/11/24. It really is as crap and poisonous as all the other platforms out there. Not needed in my life.

Stay safe.
