Silence

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Silence. That’s the way to do it. However living on the outskirts of a city, silence is not always a viable option so I’ll settle for peace and quiet instead, oh and a cup of tea.

From the moment you arrive at work, your ears are open to a barrage of demands and orders, your brain filters them into some kind of chronological order and you deal with the demands accordingly.

When a spare moment appears in between all the organised chaos that single letter “T” appears in your mind informing you it’s time to consider a break and in a good old English fashion a cup of tea is the order of the day.

Getting the day started normally involves two cups before settling down to business and winding the day up is also another. Yes tea plays a large part in my unwinding process as well.

Not too long though as there are always jobs to be done.

Off we go again.

But nothing beats the end of the day, a comfy seat, a cup of tea and some well deserved peace and quiet.

The wise man will however, always avoid having a demanding day. I am not that wise man though.

Have a lovely day.

Operation teabag

I like to think we are quite a laid back household, easy going and fairly stress free. We have our routines and the best one of the day is the two cups of tea in the morning before considering doing anything.

But today at around 6am, a big dark cloud began to form above the house. The mood went dark and not a word was spoken, silence hung in the air.

I’d been down to make cuppa number one, i opened the caddy and a horror washed over my face and through my entire soul. How shall I break the news to my wife who is currently in a slumber, should I even wake her at all?

Only one teabag! Oh the shame and horror!

There is only one teabag 😧

We’ve both been quite ill lately and I guess the normally large supply we have in the house has dwindled as a result of not participating in much shopping.

I had a dilemma. Should I make myself one? Should I share a tea bag (Oh the horror) or should I just take her one and then break the routine and go and source more?

I went with the latter. I grabbed some breakfast and a glass of water, and then decided to go for a fairly protracted walk to get some tea. Yes I have the car and could have been a lot more expedient, however I will walk wherever I can, so i decided to skip routine and go for the walk. After first giving the last tea bag to the wife, because that’s the kind of guy I am 😉

Anyway, a pleasant 3.3 mile walk later and the cloud has dispersed from the house, the sun is shining and the birds are singing (you get the picture) and normality has resumed and routine has now been restored.

It’s funny how something such as tea can structure your day and how dependent you become on routine. Only when it’s broken do you realise how reliant you are on it.

Now for my two morning cuppas, nothing more is being done until this has been accomplished.

Happy day everyone.

Good old H2O

What is your favorite drink?

My every day routine is to start the day with at least two cups of tea, this is normally the kick in the pants I need to get into the groove as they say. Funny enough though this routine will be affected today as after only one cup we have run out of tea bags. A childish mistake we have made by not having enough in stock before we went on holiday.

It’s funny that on holiday my routine changes and the tea becomes coffee, a drink that at home I wouldn’t even entertain until at least elevenses.

So that’s my drinking routine on a standard day, however I guess my favourite is Water, i never seem to drink enough of it, allegedly. I’m not one of these people that carries around a vessel that looks like a small barrel, I’m a chancer kind of person who just takes a swig whenever I’m near a water tap. I do take a small flask in the work van with me but that is never enough to satisfy a thirst.

We all need water so why wouldn’t it be everyone’s favourite? We’d all be extinct without it.

Happy day to you all.

A couple of cups of splosh

What are your daily habits?

The day always starts with a couple of cups of tea to oil the grey cells prior to doing anything that involves thought or movement.

I’ve done this for years and the two cups before the start of the day has become ritual now. If I’m on early shift at work it has to be a couple of cups of splosh before I even go out and do anything.

It’s the oil for my engine. And every engine needs that to perform well.

Have a good day.

Anything interesting happened today?

What notable things happened today?

It’s just after 5 in the morning and the only notable thing that has occurred so far today is that I have woken up.

And to be honest for everyone that’s no mean feat. The fact we have awoken from our slumber is something to be grateful for. You have another day on this planet, another go at trying to have a good day, another day to mend relationships and to forgive those little misdemeanours and mistakes.

Another chance to be a better person.

I’ve had my first cup of tea of the day and my next big decision is whether to make another.

Tea – typically British

Start the day with a blank canvas, and go paint a masterpiece.

Hopefully you’ll get another go at it tomorrow. You just never know.

Just do it. And enjoy it.

Happy days all.

Thoughts 19/4/24

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

Tea.

That was it. Tea.

I’m back on nights tonight and I fancied a lay in, but it seems the wife wanted the same. Eyes closed, a sleepy glance to the right to see if my wife was awake. She wasn’t.

It’s going to have to be me isn’t it? Wait a few more minutes. Still no movement.

The dog has clocked I’m awake and he wants to go outside now. Damn it’s going to have to be me.

Dog in garden, two cups of tea to the bedroom and the wife is miraculously awake. She’s better at this game than me. 😂

Good day to you all.

Thoughts 1/4/24

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

Wake-up.

Stretch….

Meds…

Cup of tea….

Cup of tea number two…..

That’s it I’m ready to go.

Bring it on.

Have a good day y’all
