Heck, I miss going Walkies.

A year ago today we lost our little dog Alf. It’s been a tough year and I must say time has not been a good healer, it’s as tough now as it was back then and he’s left a massive void in our family structure.

I’d say now that if you aren’t an animal lover then read no further. You wouldn’t understand.

However if you have a modicum of appreciation for a species that loves another being, unconditionally, then please read on.

I wrote this last year at his passing, nothing has changed.

  5. there’s no words that could describe the immense pain souls experience when they are separated from each other. do know that as much as it hurts you, it tears at Alf’s sweet little heart. but him feeling how much you and your wife love him bridges that distance.

    there is no cure for a broken heart, as you know. it becomes only a presence that moves into your house quietly and settles in its own corner.

    i don’t know if you’ve ever watched the movie Interstellar, but there is a scene that I have often referred back to and – while it doesn’t give me any degree of solace for my grief – it gives me the next best thing, i guess, which is understanding.

    I can only imagine the hurt you and your wife must be reliving today. Take care. Alf will find a way to communicate. Just from looking at his photos – he is (I never speak of loved ones in the past tense) a beautiful, pure, courageous soul. Mike

    2. I’ve just watched that clip Mike, never seen the film but that is one very special scene that gets you to thinking. Love truly can transcend space and time. No kidding 👍
